The Lynx travelled to Dundee hoping to keep their winning form and secure a victory against the Tigers on Saturday. Despite having dominating most of the play and having 62 shots on goal this was a hard fought 4-1 victory for the Lynx who continue a 4 game winning streak in the SNL.
The Lynx got off to a perfect start when #15 Malcolm was credited with the goal from a powerful deflected shot from the point by #37 Johnson who was set up #8 Leyden to make it 1-0 15 seconds in to the game.
However, a few penalties saw the Lynx short-handed for a large part of the period and the Tigers (with a couple of new signings) were playing well and after 8 minutes pulled a goal back when #88 Callum Turnbull beat #35 Chalmers to make it 1-1.
#35 Craig Mallinson (making his debut in goal for the Tigers) was very solid and the Lynx were unable to find a way past the Tigers new netminder and the period ended 1-1.
Despite getting 3 power-play chances in the second period, the Lynx found the Tigers (who were playing the best I’ve seen them this season) a tough nut to crack an it took until 5 mins to go in the period before #6 Craig Findlay gave the Lynx a 2-1 lead after latching on to a #55 Jack Durkacz pass to fire home from the point.
5 minutes in to the 3rd period the Lynx made it 3-1 when #19 Mark Laing, set up by #8 Leyden, finally got the puck past Mallinson.
A few minutes later a PP goal by #12 Ross McIntosh sealed the victory against this vastly improved Tigers team and the game finished 4-1.
