Lynx V Comets: Match Preview

The Lynx will kick off their SNL Campaign against the team they ended it against last season, The Dundee Comets.

The last time the teams met was in the final of the Play-offs with the Lynx recording a historic win to lift their first Play-Off title.

The Lynx have always had a interesting relationship with their local rivals as many of the current Lynx squad are former Comets Players.  New signing Adam McNicoll follows in the footsteps of Player/Coach Barry Carnegie, Iain Malcolm, Jonathan Hogan, Craig and Scott Chalmers Brothers, Sean Dyer, Aaron Thomson, Mark Laing, Fraser and Calum MacEachran, Jordan Leyden, Jamie Vincent, and Ross McIntosh in being former players for the Comets.

However, their future is red and black they are all now committed to making the Lynx get the season off to the best possible start with a win.

The teams are extremely evenly matched and all games between the sides have been some of the most exciting encounters the SNL has witnessed. This game should be no different with the core of last season squads remaining.

The 2016-17  Lynx squad with the addition of Jack Durkacz have added another strong young player to the squad. The return of Jonathan Hogan to the side consolidates a formidable and very strong forward line up and with Adam McNicoll adding another dynamic in a constantly improving and developing defence, the prospects for the Lynx emulating last seasons success look very promising.

“It seems like a lifetime ago we finished up in Kirkcaldy on a Sunday night in April.  As far the team is concerned we had no problems getting guys to come back and see where this roller coaster ride would take us next.  One crucial thing for me was only bringing in guys who can improve on what we already have. It’s no secret that we went into a number of matches with a short bench and we needed to address that.  We have brought in 2 good, young guys who fit that model and we are not finished there.

Although we are very familiar with our rivals down the road, there is also a freshness about them as their coach Adam Walker has used his contacts to strengthen them also. This should make for a good, high tempo game between 2 pretty even teams. As always the work behind the scenes by the supporters club is amazing and we look forward to giving them something to shout about as the season goes on.”
